Raised in Victoria, Texas, Billy Murphy is a fifth-generation cattle rancher whose deep appreciation for land and stewardship began at an early age. Billy is a graduate of Texas Christian University and completed the TCU Ranch Management Program in 1999. He began his ranch real estate career in 2003, driven by a desire to help others build their own legacy of land ownership. Remaining rooted in the region where he was raised, Billy has been guiding buyers and sellers through the complexities of land transactions for over two decades. He recently joined Republic Ranches, further strengthening his ability to serve clients across Texas.
As a member of J.F. Welder Heirs—one of the oldest undivided family ranching partnerships in Texas—Billy has played an active leadership role in preserving and enhancing the family’s land legacy. He served as Chairman of the J.F. Welder Heirs Ranchland Council for 15 years, where he focused on wildlife management, brush control, and expanding recreational opportunities for the partnership. His conservation work includes collaborations with NRCS, FSA, Texas Parks & Wildlife, and Ducks Unlimited on multiple land stewardship and cost-share programs.
Today, Billy continues to live out his passion for ranching on his family’s property along the Guadalupe River in Victoria, Texas, where he resides with his wife and two children. In addition to managing the ranch, he owns and operates a commercial Brangus and Beefmaster herd. When he’s not tending cattle or attending his children’s activities, Billy enjoys hunting in South Texas and fishing along the Texas coast.

He is most at home when showing ranches, sharing insight, and helping others realize the value and potential of the land they love.
