Jeff Boswell is a Partner with the Republic Ranches team. In addition to selling farm & ranch properties in Texas, Jeff also has extensive experience in developing wetlands, quail rehabilitation on lands in the Gulf Coast and South Texas, pond and lake building and fish stocking, and experience as a landowner in farming and ranching. Jeff is a member of TWA, Quail Coalition, DU, and is a life member of the NRA. Charles Davidson is a Partner with the Republic Ranches team. He is a 4th
generation Texan active and passionate about rural Texas and the outdoor pursuits. He owns and operates a ranch in Real County. He is a Past President of the Texas Wildlife Association, a Trustee of the TWA Foundation and a past member of the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department’s White-tailed Deer Advisory Committee. Charles also serves on the Advisory Board of the Borderlands Research Institute at Sul Ross State University and is the Board Chair of the Texas Agricultural Land Trust. He is also a member of the Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and the Quality Deer Management Association. Charles has hands on experience buying and selling ranch properties and interests as a principal, in addition to overseeing the nationwide operating commercial realty portfolio for his previous employer. Charles received a Bachelor of Science degree from Washington & Lee University and a MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. He resides in San Antonio with his wife and three children. Mark Matthews is a Partner with the Republic Ranches team. In addition to selling farm and ranch property, he is a co-owner in a wildlife consulting business, Cuerno Grande. He has over 25 years of experience in developing, managing, and owning ranch properties. He has a degree in marketing from the University of Texas, and a Masters in Wildlife Management from Texas A&M University. He lives in Hondo with his wife and four daughters. Bryan Pickens is an expert in the ranch, farm, and rural real estate market in part through his sales experience that includes natural resource and wildlife management, timber production, and mineral and aggregate exploration. Through his brokerage work with pre-development properties and his active involvement in several professional networking associations, he also has excellent national connections with capital groups seeking large land investment opportunities – and with the print media leaders that specialize in covering this market. A sportsman and ranch owner, Bryan also knows what it takes to properly buy, manage, and sell ranch real estate as an outdoorsman. He serves on the board of Heritage Land Bank, part of the National Farm Credit System, and is a regular host of formal business forums for high net worth individuals and capital groups regarding market trends and various areas of rural real estate interest. Bryan is a 6th generation native Texan with strong ties to the community, and serves on the advisory board of the Texas Wildlife Association Foundation. He is a former member of the Board of Trustees for the Texas Parks & Wildlife Foundation, the official non-profit partner of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. It is through these efforts that he strongly encourages sportsmen, families, and kids to spend time doing absolutely anything outdoors. He has a degree from Vanderbilt University and a MBA from SMU, is an ’89 Eagle Scout, and resides in Dallas with his wife and four daughters. Bryan is licensed in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. John has lived in Corpus Christi all his life. He has been blessed to experience the South Texas outdoors since he was born. He grew up hunting from Brownsville to Victoria to Leakey to Laredo. Hunting and wildlife management was and still is a major part of his life and lifestyle. He has almost 25 years experience in the South Texas real estate market. He has been a part of numerous residential developments in Corpus Christi, Port Aransas and Portland, and he has helped broker and create several large commercial developments in South Texas. He brokered his first large ranch in 1993 and has been hooked on selling farm and ranch land ever since. Virginia grew up in Houston, TX where she spent weekends riding her horse at her family farm in Danbury. Virginia gained an appreciation for the outdoors at an early age from going on family hunting trips to spending 15 summers at Camp Longhorn. Virginia has a BA in History from Southern Methodist University where she graduated in 2014. After graduation, Virginia moved to Austin where she interned with the Texas Historical Commission researching and writing historic markers. Virginia then moved into real estate, getting her sales agent license in 2015. Virginia is joining the Republic Ranches team as Director of Operations. As a native Texan, David Boyles has spent his life enjoying the outdoors and what it has to offer through hunting and fishing. His own experiences with his dad in his early years heavily influenced his dedication to the outdoors as a place to enhance relationships with nature, family and friends. David’s enthusiasm about passing on his great respect for our natural resources and wildlife is evident in all these activities. The land, in turn, continues to be a secure and wise investment. His family began this type of investment with a dairy farm just outside Houston and a ranch in Real County. David has continued this tradition with property in Uvalde and Brown Counties, particularly enjoying negotiating grazing leases and developing wildlife management plans. Having spent thirty years in commercial real estate specializing in medical property, he has experience in handling large real estate transactions and is dedicated to walking buyer and seller through to final closing. David graduated from The University of Texas where he was a member of the Texas Cowboy Organization, acquiring lifelong friendships throughout the state. Mr. Busbee has worked for 25+ years in numerous roles in investment banking and management. In addition to his duties with Republic Ranches, he also works part-time with G.C. Andersen Partners, a New York City-based investment bank. Previously he served as Global Head of HVB/Unicredit Bank’s Private Debt and Equity Placement Group for five years and spent ten years with Citibank Securities. Mr. Busbee also served as Chief Financial Officer for Mesa Power, Mr. T. Boone Pickens’ captive power company and worked in various capacities for the Hunt Oil Company. He has also completed numerous ranch and residential real estate transactions, primarily as a principal.Chris received his BBA (European History) from Washington & Lee University and MBA from The University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Busbee also serves on the board of directors for Pallet Ops, LLC (a recycled pallet manufacturer based in Texas) and manages the Sue and Richard Carter Charitable Trust. He is an avid hunter, fisherman, snow skier and runner. Chris has completed 20 New York City Marathons in a row.Chris owns a ranch in Webb County, TX and lives full time in Telluride, Colorado. Sterling Curry was born and raised in San Angelo, Texas. Sterling comes from a multi-generation ranching family and has extensive experience whether it be with livestock, farming or hunting and fishing. In 2012 he graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a major in Economics and a minor in Business. After graduation, he worked as a Petroleum Landman and was fortunate to spend time working in different resource plays across Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. Sterling now resides in Houston, TX. While not working, Sterling enjoys spending his time traveling and being outdoors. Michael Deveny grew up North of Dallas and spent much of his time in West Texas hunting and fishing with family & friends. Michael is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University with a degree in Forest and Wildlife Management. His love of hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors has driven him to a successful career as a wildlife manager at Mossy Rock Whitetails in Cross Plains, Texas. Michael has combined his passion for wildlife and ranch management with a career in ranch real estate and has over ten years of wildlife management and ranch development experience. His clients find his knowledge of ranch development valuable when looking to buy or sell property. Rick grew up working on a pure bred Santa Gertrudis cattle ranch. He has had a lifelong love of ranching, land and flying. He feels very fortunate to have two fulfilling careers as a farm and ranch realtor and as a Captain for United/Continental Airlines, now retired. He loves being out on land and ranches and showing them to clients. Rick is a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and serves on the International Committee. Rick is also President of The Texas Land Brokers Network, Board of Directors of the Texas Realtors Land Institute since 2012. He is a member of The Texas Alliance of Land Brokers, TAR, NAR, TSCRA, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and the Houston Safari club. Travis Doak was born and raised in the Woodlands, TX. Starting at a young age, Travis was healthily obsessed with the outdoors and living the farm/ranch lifestyle. He is an avid outdoorsman with a passion for conservation and wildlife management. Whether it’s fishing the coast in Rockport, TX, whitetail hunting at his father’s ranch in Cuero, waterfowl hunting or floating the Frio, you can always count on finding Travis outside studying the land, flora and fauna. Travis graduated from the Woodlands High School and studied Anthropology at UTSA. After college, Travis worked as an events coordinator for a large company out of Austin, TX. He has been playing lacrosse since he was in fourth grade. His passion for the sport led him to coaching at Bowie High School for a total of eight seasons; four as an Assistant Coach and four as Head Coach and Program Director. After a successful run at Bowie, Travis is now back to being an Assistant Coach at Austin High School. He made this move because he wanted to focus on selling real estate, particularly farm and ranch. Because he spends so much time outdoors and interacting with numerous ranch owners, real estate became an intrinsic path to success for him. Mitchell Eads was born and raised in Houston, Texas, where he grew up with a passion for the outdoors. As a 7th generation Texan, Mitchell’s family has owned the same property in Harrison County since 1847. There, he was first introduced to the heritage of hunting and fishing and his deep Texas roots. He developed his love for hiking, camping and the values of scouting throughout his childhood as he later went on to earn his Eagle Scout Award. Mitchell graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station with a degree in Political Science. After College, Mitchell accepted a job as a Landman, working in South Texas in the Eagle Ford Shale. As a Landman, he determined mineral ownership, negotiated leases and worked closely with oil and gas companies on numerous drilling projects. 5 years later, he brought his knowledge and experiences gained in land, title and estates to the real estate industry. Born and raised in Shreveport, Dan Flournoy graduated from Washington and Lee University in 1964, with a B.A. Degree in Political Science. After serving a tour in Vietnam as a 1st Lieutenant Counter Intelligence Advisor in the Army, he headed to Houston as fast as he could. Since 1995, Dan has been very involved in the management of a large ranch in Central West Texas, dealing with oil and gas transactions, transmission lines, government programs, water rights, hunting, livestock and many other ranch specific issues. That ranch was the recipient of many conservation awards, most notably the Texas Parks and Wildlife’s Lone Star Land Steward Award for the Edwards Plateau region in 2010. He serves as a Director and Life Member of The Texas Wildlife Association and is currently on its Executive Committee. He is an avid bow hunter and fisherman. A native Houstonian and ranch owner herself, Kate has been watching the ranch and land market since long before she received her broker’s license in 2008. Her deep knowledge of the Texas landscape helps her to hand select properties for her clients, connecting them to exactly the right property for their needs. A lifelong equestrian, Kate is also Republic Ranches’ in-house equestrian specialist with extensive experience in horse care and the demands of different equestrian disciplines. When she is not driving deep into the countryside with clients, Kate is President of Shadyside Farms, a boarding and training facility for hunters and jumpers, which she has owned and managed since 1991. Shadyside Farms has locations in Montgomery and Waller counties that board hunters, jumpers, and polo ponies. Kate graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelors of Science in Architectural History and Preservation. Rob Grainger was born and raised in Houston, Texas. With his family’s ranch in Washington county, just outside of Brenham, Rob would spend every opportunity at the Mayfair receiving a hands-on education in ranching and wildlife while working alongside his family. This opportunity and the various leases his family held in South Texas instilled a deep desire to pursue a career in Ranch Management and Real Estate. Rob studied wildlife biology and rangeland economy at Texas A&M University and moved to Corpus Christi after graduation to pursue his career as a Wildlife Operations Manager for the Jones family on their landholdings and leases in Texas and Missouri. Rob also owns and operates Grainger Ranch Recruiting, LLC, placing high end employees on farms and ranches throughout the United States. As Rob’s understanding for South Texas properties and landowners increased, his interest in pursuing farm and ranch real estate significantly grew, and with his education and experience in South Texas he is exceptionally qualified to assist buyers and sellers in their farm and ranch transactions. Jason D. Hawn
Jason D. Hawn was born and raised in Victoria, Texas. Jason grew up with a rich appreciation of the hard work and joy that comes with owning a ranch. Having obtained a degree in Economics from Southern Methodist University, Jason went to work for an Austin strategic communications firm. While there, he managed the company’s corporate hunting leases on the Cotulla Ranch, King Ranch and then the Kenedy Foundation Ranch. Realizing his true calling, Jason obtained his real estate license and went out to follow his passion of being outdoors, traveling throughout Texas and representing buyers and sellers of Texas’ most precious resource. Since then Jason has proven himself as a seasoned seller and buyer’s broker who will always put his client’s needs first.After over two decades in Austin, Jason moved back to his hometown of Victoria with his wife and three children. In addition to his work with Republic Ranches, Jason is co-owner of CREWpoint Contractors, is Co-Chair for Gear Up for Game Wardens Region 8 and sits on the Advisory Council. Drake Heller graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in ranch management. A Houston native, Drake was instilled with a love for hunting and a passion for God’s creation from a young age. Throughout college, he worked on ranches from South Texas to the southern borders of Iowa. While working for these landowners, he discovered a passion for land and soon established a niche in land brokerage and development. Along with ranch real estate, Drake has extensive experience in the wildlife industry and owns Gulf Land & Wildlife Inc.
Drake specializes in wildlife properties and properties with mineral ownership. He and his team assist landowners in all aspects of ranch management. When Drake is not showing property or working with landowners, he is taking care of his white-tailed deer and exotic deer at his ranch in Eagle Lake, Texas. Scott is a native Texan who was raised in a small town south of Houston. He has been an avid outdoorsman and conservationist his entire life. He also owns and operates a small cattle operation in Brazoria and Real counties, and has extensive knowledge in developing and maintaining habitat for wildlife and livestock. Scott also has knowledge and experience in ranching, farming along the Texas gulf coast, and hunting property management throughout Texas. He is a member of the Texas Game Warden Association, Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, and Ducks Unlimited. Scott received a bachelor’s of science degree from SWT in law-enforcement and agriculture, and lives in Brazoria County with his wife and daughter. As an avid horsewoman and ranch owner, Amy Leonard is passionate about land. She thrives on developing a piece of property into an ideal setting for an owner to enjoy the western lifestyle. With a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Texas A&M University, she started her real estate career in 2003. Amy has assisted numerous buyers over the years in finding a property that fits their dream. In representing buyers, she has become keenly aware of what a purchaser is looking for in a property. Tallon Martin is an avid outdoorsman with a passion for conservation and wildlife management. During his career representing clients, he has closed transactions in 23 counties across Texas totaling over 24,850 acres. In 2017, Tallon Martin and Charles Davidson were the firm’s leaders in a transaction that resulted in the firm being the recipient of Texas Land Magazine
‘s Land Star award for the largest transaction in the West Texas region. Over the years Tallon has learned many hands-on management techniques on his family ranch in Colorado County, Texas. He has gained extensive knowledge in pasture restoration, waterfowl habitat, timber management and pond ecology. Working with clients from the Northeast Texas Pineywoods to the South Texas Plains region, Tallon has gained a vast knowledge of the farm and ranch real estate market across Texas. He understands the unique aspect each region has to offer and the wide-ranging wildlife and land management programs implemented around the state. Tallon is a graduate of Texas A&M University. He graduated with an Agriculture Economic degree with an emphasis in finance and real estate. Tallon is on the board of Austin Woods and Water Club and served as president in 2016. He is also an active board member of the McBride Foundation and serves on the advisory council for the Austin chapter of Stewards of the Wild. Wallace is a fifth generation Texas ranch owner and wildlife manager, as well as a native grass specialist. With the cooperation of top research scientists, he has restored native grasses to create wildlife habitat on hundreds of miles of pipeline right-of-way in south and west-central Texas. Keith A. Ray
Keith A. Ray has been engaged in the wildlife management and consulting business for over two decades, working alongside his father, Murphy E. Ray Jr. In addition, Keith operates an outfitting business specializing in white-tailed deer hunts. Keith graduated from The University of Texas at San Antonio with a BBA in Business Management. Murphy E. Ray , Jr.
Murphy E. Ray, Jr. started in the early 1970s as a biologist with Texas Parks & Wildlife. He holds a Wildlife Management Degree from Texas A&M University. In the early 1980s, he started his business, Management Services, Limited, and has worked as a consultant on whitetail deer management since that time. He co-authored “Producing Quality Whitetails”, a book on concerning all aspects of deer management. He also is a co-founder of the Texas Wildlife Association. Murphy is licensed in Texas. Spencer Reed was born in Northeast Oklahoma, and has gained substantial knowledge in operating a working cattle ranch, having grown up working on his family ranch that began in 1901. Before joining the Republic Ranches team, he previously managed a commercial beef stocker business in Oklahoma. He is an expert on stocking rates, livestock health and wellness, weed control, and overall property management, and these are just a few things that help him determine property value and potential in rural real estate. Spencer is a frequent outdoorsman, and a passionate bow hunter. His love for wildlife and care for the land are a big part of his goals to preserve the outdoors. He is a member of the Rural Fire Department near his ranch and also a member of the Oklahoma, State and County, Cattlemen’s Associations. Spencer graduated from Oklahoma State University with a B.S. Robert Rutherford is a 6th generation Texan, born and raised in Houston. Robert grew up hunting on his family ranch in Pearsall. Robert graduated from Texas Christian University in 2017 with a General Studies degree. Robert started to take a camera along with him while hunting to show others what he saw, and before he knew it he sometimes only had a camera on him while going out on hunts. Britt Schwing is a native Texan born and raised in Houston. Britt grew up hunting and fishing across Texas as well as learning management on his family’s hunting property. As a 7th generation Texan, Sam Shackelford has a love and appreciation for Texas and all that it has to offer. He has hunted in South Texas for 27 years. Sam and his family own and operate a ranch in the “Golden Triangle”. Apart from ranching, he is an avid outdoorsman. Sam has guided and hosted hunts throughout Texas and has been a guest hunter on the Outdoor Channel’s Bucks of Tecomate and Realtree’s Monster Bucks. Prior to joining the Republic Ranches team, Sam founded and sold a successful business in the construction industry. He has first hand knowledge of pipeline, seismograph, and easement negotiation along with aggregate exploration. Sam has range and wildlife experience through Texas Tech University, and a degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Sam and his wife Jill and two children reside in Austin. Jordan has lived in Texas all his life. He grew up in Dallas but preferred spending time chasing deer on his family’s ranch in Llano. While studying finance at the McCombs School of Business in Austin, he was able to turn his passion for whitetail into one of the most successful deer breeding operations in the state. That business, Double Dime Whitetails, is where Jordan learned to excel in marketing and sales. Because he spends so much of his time interacting with other ranch owners, real estate has been an inherent path for Jordan. He specializes in wildlife and hunting properties in the hill country region. Jordan currently lives on the ranch in Llano where he runs the whitetail deer and exotic breeding operations. Ross Studer is a San Antonio native and was raised with the family traditions of hunting and land stewardship. As a 6th generation Texan and avid outdoorsman, his appreciation for the outdoors and all that Texas has to offer began early for Ross. He has gained an extensive knowledge of ranching operations while helping his family and friends manage ranches and leases in various regions of Texas. His active involvement in ranching and wildlife management includes the stewarding of both native and exotic wildlife. Ross’ early career has included guiding hunts from Texas to southern and central Africa. Ross is actively involved with Texas Wildlife Association, Texas Parks & Wildlife Foundation and a board member of the August Heart Foundation. He received his bachelors degree in Marketing from The University of Mississippi. Ross resides in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas with his wife Chase Studer. Ross is licensed in Texas. William is a Broker Associate with Republic Ranches. He was raised in El Campo, Texas, and heavily involved in the family rice, row crop, and cattle farming operation through his college years. He is a life-long avid outdoorsman, spending as much time as possible hunting, fishing, and generally enjoying the Gulf Coast and South Texas regions of the state. Prior to joining Republic Ranches, over his 17 year real estate career he has provided buyer, seller, and leasing services to some of the country’s largest companies in addition to developing and owning properties. William is a graduate of Texas A&M University with degrees in Finance and Land Economics & Real Estate, and resides in Houston with his wife. William is licensed in Texas and Louisiana. Rik Thompson was raised in Oklahoma and Texas and has a ranching and farming background. He joined the service after high school and spent 23 years traveling the world. Rik received his B.S. from the University of the State of New York (a Navy Program at the time) and his M.S from the US Naval Postgraduate School. He is also a Distinguished Graduate of the US Naval War College. Rik and his wife MaryLou settled in New Mexico and after he retired from the Navy they owned and operated a large farming and ranching business. Rik is still in the cattle business with a cow-calf and stocker operation. He serves on two rural water boards and is very familiar with rural water issues including water rights, wells, irrigation systems, and livestock watering systems. He was introduced to real estate by MaryLou who is a 23 year residential Realtor and he found his passion in farm and ranch real estate. He is a dedicated deer, elk, and antelope hunter. Marie Thyssen grew up overseas in Africa and Australia. She has had a passion for horses all her life and when she moved back to the states with her family she continued her ambition to work with horses. Marie has managed top hunter/jumper show barns and has a great knowledge of equestrian properties all over the country. Marie currently manages a top show barn in Magnolia, TX and has joined Republic Ranches as a Sales Agent and equestrian property specialist. Marie lives in Montgomery, TX.
