On the northern shoreline of West Galveston Bay is the largest and most diverse recreational ranch opportunity within an hour of Houston. Migratory birds tend to steal the show with tens of thousands of species utilizing the ranch over the season. Directly to the North of the ranch, there are thousands of acres of rice and agricultural fields that bring in heavy populations of doves and waterfowl to the area including ducks, geese, and sandhill cranes.

The ranch is only 45 minutes from the 4th largest city in the country, yet miraculously is still in the middle of nowhere. There are only 3 large neighbors that surround this property. Located on the Eastern Boundary of Brazoria County, with shoreline directly on Chocolate Bay, this ranch offers exceptional accessibility to Houston and the surrounding areas. The ranch is only 15 minutes from I-45, 35 minutes from Hobby Airport, and 45 minutes from Downtown Houston.
Topography, Rangeland & Habitat
Sloping from North to South the ranch presents vastly different landtypes from the front gate to the southern boundary on Chocolate Bay. Soil types on the property suggest the ranch is split almost perfectly in half between infrequently flooded uplands in the North, and frequently flooded estuaries to the South. The uplands are characterized by a healthy stand of native grasses including bushy bluestem and little bluestem, as well as scattered brush and few hardwood trees. This section of the property supports whitetail, wild pigs, doves, and a breeding population of bobwhite quail– a testament to the property’s effective management. Flanked on the East by Halls Bayou, New Bayou on the West, and Chocolate Bay to the south, the property’s lowlands are influenced by the variety of habitat created by freshwater, saltwater, and the hybrid systems casually referred to as brackish estuaries. These frequently flooded sections of the ranch are rich with marine and bird life and offer endless recreational opportunities including crabbing, fishing, bird hunting, kayaking, or just watching a beautiful sunset over the marsh.
Wildlife
This property has been expertly designed and managed to produce the highest quality of native coastal and upland ecosystems. The planning and intention behind this work directly benefits the assortment of native wildlife. Hundreds of resident and migratory bird species utilize the property’s acreage including doves and over a dozen species of waterfowl. Countless other water bird species traverse the landscape such as roseate spoonbills, white pelicans, egrets, terns, herons, ospreys, and hundreds of others. Large populations of ducks and waterfowl winter on this ranch as well as utilize it on their migration route. On the uplands of the property there are populations of white-tailed deer, wild pigs, coveys of bobwhite quail, as well as an assortment of native predators and varmints.
Agriculture
The properties majority is under a conservation easement that does not allow for commercial livestock and agriculture. However, the remainder of the property not encumbered by the easement could be utilized for agriculture or horses and livestock if desired.
