Continuing the trend of reporting and focusing on America’s most iconic viewsheds and working landscapes, The Land Report announces the 2015 Land Report Texas 10 presented by Republic Ranches, which highlights the largest landowners and even bigger personalities within the Lone Star State.

Topping this year’s list are the King Ranch Heirs with 911,215 acres, followed by the Briscoe Family with 560,000 acres; the W.T. Waggoner Estate with 535,000 acres; the O’Connor Heirs with 500,000 acres, and the Hughes Family with 390,000 acres. The remainder of the Top 10 is rounded out by Malone Mitchell 3rd, the Nunley Brothers, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, the Kokernot Heirs, and Anne Marion of 6666 fame.

“Texans and Texas landowners are heirs to a tradition of stewardship that dates back centuries. It’s only fitting that The Land Report honor them with this special issue,” says Land Report Editor Eric O’Keefe.

The Texas edition of The Land Report also feature an in-depth profile of fifth-generation Texas Katharine Armstrong, recipient of the 2015 T. Boone Pickens Lifetime Sportsman Award from Park Cities Quail. In 1999, Gov. George W. Bush named this South Texas native to the Texas Parks & Wildlife Commission. Two years later, Gov. Rick Perry named her first female board chair. Currently, Armstrong has partnered with former First Lady Laura Bush on Taking Care of Texas, which champions stewardship across the state.

Rounding out the issue is an exclusive look at the Mesa Vista Kennel, T. Boone Pickens’ world-class hunting dog operation on his renowned Mesa Vista Ranch in the Texas Panhandle.

“At Republic Ranches, we know firsthand how Texans connect to the land. Our partners are all landowners. It’s who we are. It’s how we connect with clients. And it’s why we’re proud to sponsor The Land Report’s Texas 10,” says Bryan Pickens of Republic Ranches.

“I’m pleased to announce that our Texas issue enjoys rock-solid distribution courtesy of The Wall Street Journal,” says Land Report Publisher Eddie Lee Rider. “Thanks to The Journal’s distribution network, 20,000 high-net-worth households in Dallas and in Houston will receive the 2015 Land Report Texas edition. This readership will be supplemented by the state’s leading landowners, conservationists, and our subscribers.”
