Buckners Creek Ranch is located in the western portion of Fayette county, near the Bastrop/Fayette county line. As you enter the property, you are greeted by large post oaks and long horns grazing on the improved grasses. One of the many gems you will find while exploring is Buckners Creek, a predominate creek which originates in southeast Bastrop County then travels 33 miles through Fayette county before feeding into the Colorado River just south of La Grange, Texas. Conveniently located, the front gate is only 58 miles from the State Capital, 100 Miles from San Antonio, and 125 Miles from Houston.
Topography: The property has a slight topo relief as you move from the northern boundary to the southern boundary (Buckners Creek). There are several low lying spots which could make great wood duck ponds.
Wildlife: The wildlife species that can be found on the ranch include whitetail deer, turkey, dove, and other vermin.
Water: The southern boundary of the property is Buckners Creek, the property has +/- .33 miles of frontage on the creek. Two ponds are evenly placed throughout the property, mainly watering holes for wildlife and cattle. One of the ponds near the home has been stocked with Bluegill, Perch, and Catfish. This ranch sits on top of the Carrizo-Wilcox Major Aquifer and Yegua Jackson, Sparta, & Queen City Minor Aquifers.
Minerals: Currently there is not a oil & gas lease on the property and no known history of surface drilling on the ranch. Owned minerals are negotiable.
Agriculture: The property is Ag exempt with Fayette county appraisal district, this exemption is kept by grazing registered longhorns.
History: This property along with the surrounding acreage in the Pierson, J G W abstract was granted to John G.W. Pierson. Mr. Pierson played a major role in Texas history. “John Goodloe Warren Pierson combined his talents of Indian fighter, commander of militia, surveyor, land developer, judge, and lawman during his life in the frontier communities of the Arkansas Territory and Texas.” Detailed story’s of his involvement in Texas history can be found at Link: Texas State Historical Association – John Pierson Fayette County Ranch Broker Tallon Martin
