Oak Prairie Ranch is a 200 acre turn-key multiuse ranch located about an hour and forty-five minutes northeast of Dallas. The ranch has a beautiful custom log home overlooking a six acre lake designed with fishing in mind. Native hardwoods cover about half the ranch and offer superb wildlife habitat and hunting opportunities. Oak Prairie checks all the boxes for a getaway recreational ranch—woods, water, maintained pasture and a spectacular log home!
Terrain
Oak Prairie Ranch’s terrain is generally level on the south with more hilly terrain in the north half of the ranch. The soils underneath the open portions of the ranch are mostly fertile sandy loams and should be very productive. Those interested in keeping/riding horses on the ranch will appreciate these less sticky soils. The wooded portions of the ranch are predominantly composed of hardwoods typical of this transition eco-region. The landowners began a native grass restoration project in the northern pasture of the ranch in 2017.
Water
The key water feature of the ranch is the six acre lake which the log home overlooks. The lake is approximately 25 feet deep and was built in 1999. The picturesque small lake offers great fishing and a healthy shoreline. There are good numbers of largemouth bass, crappie and bluegill in this lake. Additionally, Oak Prairie Ranch has three additional ponds with good fishing. Two shallow duck sloughs were created on the both the east and west sides of the ranch.
